When should I book my maternity photoshoot?

The best time for a maternity shoot is usually between 28 and 34 weeks. By then:

  • Your bump is clearly visible and beautifully rounded
  • Most mothers still feel comfortable standing, sitting and changing outfits
  • There is time to plan your newborn photoshoot before the baby arrives

If you are expecting twins, or your doctor has advised rest, we recommend shooting a little earlier, around 26–30 weeks. Book two to four weeks in advance, especially for weekends.

Studio or outdoor maternity shoot?

Both are lovely — it depends on the look you want.

Studio maternity photography

Our studio in Al Qusais, Dubai gives you full control: soft, flattering light, air-conditioning, privacy, and styled themed setups. Studio sessions are perfect in the summer months and for elegant, fine-art portraits with flowing gowns.

Outdoor maternity photography

Dubai has stunning backdrops — beaches, desert dunes, parks and the city skyline. Outdoor sessions work best from October to April, either early in the morning or at golden hour before sunset, when the light is warm and soft. All BreathART maternity packages include indoor or outdoor session options.

What to wear for a maternity photoshoot

  • Fitted or flowing gowns that show the shape of your bump look timeless
  • Soft, neutral colours — cream, white, blush, beige — suit every backdrop
  • One bold colour (red, emerald, royal blue) makes a striking studio portrait
  • Partner outfits should complement yours, not match exactly; plain shirts work best
  • Bring two or three outfits and comfortable shoes for moving between setups

Include your partner and children

Some of the most emotional maternity portraits include the whole family — a partner's hands around the bump, or an older sibling kissing the belly. Siblings are welcome; we keep the session relaxed and playful so little ones stay happy.

Maternity and newborn: plan both together

Many families book their maternity shoot and newborn photoshoot together. Your maternity session happens during pregnancy, and your newborn session is ideally 5 to 14 days after birth, when babies are sleepy and curl naturally into poses.
